INTERLEAGUES: WHAT'S OUT THERE

A LIST OF INTERLEAGUES SS COMPETED IN

The table below lists all recognised interleagues in which STRAIGHTSHOTS are currently competing in or used to take part in. A green dot () denotes a current competition.

Competitions have been ranked with from 5 stars denoting those considered to be the most prestigious interleagues, down to 1 star for the lesser events.

CIP **

WHAT is it? • Championship of International Pool

WHICH format? • 6 v 6; possible results: 6-0, 5-1, 4-2, 3-3; 6 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 1

WHAT else? • CIP was an offshoot of IPA and was formed after IPA folded at the end of season 5, run by James of DS (james716197). The competition ran for one season in 2010 but did not reappear for a second campaign. Disbanded in 2011.

CPA **

WHAT is it? • Continental Pool Association

WHICH format? • 6 v 6 and 7 v 7; 6 or 7 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 1

WHAT else? • CPA was the brainchild of Scotsman Dave Dixon (buckmebeautiful) who founded WPC. Its format was a bizarre mixture of 6 v 6 and 7 v 7 matches. The best things going for CPA were its vibrant black, orange and blue website and a host of new stats. It started brightly enough but faded when its founder seemingly lost interest and went AWOL, leaving others to complete the one and only season. Disbanded in 2010.

GIT ***

WHAT is it? • Global Interleague Trophy

WHICH format? • 5 v 5; possible results: 5-0, 4-1, 3-2; 5 games of 1 v 1, 3 games of Regular 8 plus 2 wildcards. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 3

WHAT else? • GIT was an innovative interleague played on Sundays which allowed 2 wildcards, such as Last Pocket and Bank the Cue/8-Ball. It was very popular and sadly folded after Season 3 when its organisers – namely Chris, Joe and Ross – decided not to continue. SS won the GIT Play-off Final twice in Season 1 and Season 3, beating Magic Pool and Freedom respectively. Disbanded in February 2011.

ILC ****

WHAT is it? • International League Championship - website: http://www.myleague.com/ilc/

WHICH format? • 5-round True Swiss tournaments, 3 per week named the 3pm, 7pm and 11pm tournaments, all Regular 8 NBIH

HOW many seasons? • Five

WHERE is it played? • In League 16 in GameDesire

WHEN? • Saturdays

WHO runs it? • Run by Kerry and her mother Michele

WHAT else? • SS entered Season 3 and won the team title at the first attempt, retaining the title in Season 4. SS added a third successive title in Season 5. Nigel (ENDK) won three consecutive Individual titles, the last two playing for SS.

IPA ****

WHAT is it? • International Pool Association - website: http://www.international-pool-association.com

WHICH format? • 6 v 6; possible results: 6-0, 5-1, 4-2, 3-3; 6 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • Six

WHAT else? • IPA began life as a Saturday inters and lasted for 5 seasons until its founder Drew decided to call it a day. But after a break he revived it for a sixth season. SS won the IPA championship twice. Disbanded in 2011.

MLP *****

WHAT is it? • Major League Pool

WHICH format? • 7 v 7; possible results: 7-0, 6-1, 5-2, 4-3; 7 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 14

WHAT else? Often seen as the 'king' of all interleagues, MLP was very popular and attracted the top leagues for many seasons. It boasted an excellent website in the competition's blue, red and white colours, with drop-down menus. MLP was notorious for Cubby's often scathing blogs which always made good reading. Sadly, with its amiable English HA Sophie (red_hot_sexy_chick) deciding that enough was enough, MLP folded in 2010. SS won 6 main championships and 3 lesser ones including the Masters Tour and Yoda Cup.

PLC *****

WHAT is it? • Pool League Championship

WHICH format? • 7 v 7; possible results: 7-0, 6-1, 5-2, 4-3; 7 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 14

WHAT else? • Another top-notch interleague seen as one of the best along with MLP for many seasons. PLC was run by Sharon (ultimate_sin) of the USA and, like MLP, enjoyed a competent admin team and a decent website as well. All good things come to an end and PLC finally faded into obscurity in 2008. SS won 9 various titles in PLC between 2003 and 2005.

PRO ****

WHAT is it? • Pro Players Association - website: http://pro.craig-cooke.com/

WHICH format? • 5 v 5 carry; possible results: 5-0, 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4; up to 9 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • Six

WHERE is it played? • Home team's room

WHEN? • Midweek at 6pm EST (11pm GMT), 7pm EST (modnight GMT) or 8pm EST (1am GMT)

WHO runs it? • Petey (ll_eskimo_ownage_ll)

WHO is SS captain? • Shelle (shelle_4461)

WHAT else? • PRO was played for eight seasons until being folded but was revived for a ninth competition in 2010 after a few years in the interleague wilderness. The current head admin is Petey (ll_eskimo_ownage_ll) of Freedom. SS won one championship and the Tour competition (comprising weekly tourneys) since PRO had been back in existence. Disbanded when Yahoo Pool closed down on 31st March 2014.

PRO TOUR ***

WHAT is it? • Pro Players Association Tour - website: http://pro.craig-cooke.com/

WHICH format? • A series of single elimination tournaments, mainly 1 v 1 but sometimes 2 v 2, all Regular 8. Camming is compulsory

HOW many seasons? • Unknown

WHERE is it played? • Various designated rooms

WHEN? • Sundays at 5pm EST (10pm GMT)

WHO runs it? • Petey (ll_eskimo_ownage_ll)

WHO is SS captain? • Shelle (shelle_4461)

WHAT else? • The PRO Tour is pretty much like WPC Expo, being played over a series of tourneys with a points system applying. SS won the Tour in Season 10 with Ben (fhm_champion) running the team. Disbanded when Yahoo Pool closed down on 31st March 2014.

UIC ****

WHAT is it? • Universal Interleague Competition - website: http://www.uic14.co.nr/

WHICH format? • 5 v 5; possible results: 5-0, 4-1, 3-2; 5 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 14

WHERE is it played? • Logen ll (Denmark) in Yahoo Pool

WHEN? • Saturdays at 6pm EST (11pm GMT)

WHO runs it? • Roy (judge.0000)

WHO is SS captain? • Nigel (en_dk)

WHAT else? • Another top interleague with a long-standing pedigree although in recent seasons numbers have declined. UIC was started in 2005 and has been regularly played ever since in its familiar Saturday evening slot. Arguably the seasons are too long nowadays when more and more inters are shortening their fixture lists. SS won the inaugural competition and have won several other titles along the way, the most recent being the Diamond Premiership in Seasons 14 and 15. SS beat Freedom 3-0 and 3-2 in the Final, and then toppled hot favourites SP. Disbanded when Yahoo Pool closed down on 31st March 2014.

UIC SWISS *** Resumed in Gamedesire in 2014

WHAT is it? • Universal Interleague Competition Swiss - website: http://www.myleague.com/uicswiss

WHICH format? • 5-round True Swiss tournaments, 3 per week named the 3pm, 7pm and 11pm tournaments, all Regular 8

HOW many seasons? • 33 (up to the end of 2021)

WHERE is it played? • Originally in Logen ll (Denmark) in Yahoo Pool, and then in Budapest and now League 07 in GameDesire

WHEN? • Fridays, at 2pm EST (7pm GMT) and at 6pm EST (11pm GMT)

WHO runs it? • Initially Roy (judge.0000) from Season 1 to Season 12 inclusive; replaced by Nigel (en_dk) for Season 13 held in 2014.

WHO is SS captain? • Marie (milly_molly03) assisted by Nigel (ENDK). Then Nigel took over for Season 13 and thereafter.

WHAT else? • Formed in 2008, the Swiss is UIC's supplementary competition which allows teams to enter a maximum of 5 players per tourney, with the top 4 scores over the three tourneys counting towards the team standings. SS has won the main team championship a record 14 times (including the first 5 competitions held) and even won the original trial competition for good measure! Restarted by Nigel (en_dk) in September 2014. The competition changed to a geographic format for Season 24 until Season 28, before returning to league-v-league for Season 29, running for three seasons. Then the geographic format returned for Season 32 and thereafter.

WPA **

WHAT is it? • World Pool All-Stars - website: http://www.worldpoolallstars.co.nr/

WHICH format? • 4 v 4; possible results: 4-0, 3-1, 4-2 3-3; 4 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8, if tied at 2-2, two extra games are played, resulting in either a 3-3 tie or 4-2 win. A minimum of 4 players can be used and a maximum of 6. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed. Format is due to change for the revamped fifth season starting in January 2013

HOW many seasons? • 4

WHERE is it played? • Logen (Denmark) in Yahoo Pool

WHEN? • Sundays at 5pm EST (10pm GMT)

WHO runs it? • Ashley (pumpkin_sauce) ran season 5, replacing Joe (Saint_Joseph or Sexy_Beast or one of a million of IDs) who had taken over from Rich (hardtarget99) for one season

WHAT else? • WPA was run as a 4 v 4 interleague with a novel format but had an indifferent start with some odd rules, not helped by some questionable organisation in both seasons 1 and 2. It seemed to disband after Season 4 but was revived by Joe and then Ashley. She ran a dreadfully unsuccessful season 5 which finished with only 3 teams! SS won the Plate competition play-off in season 2, beating Extreme Cues in the Final 3-1. Disbanded unsurprisingly.

WPC ***

WHAT is it? • World Pool Championship - website: http://www.wpc9.co.nr/

WHICH format? • 6 v 6; possible results: 6-0, 5-1, 4-2, 3-3; 6 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 10

WHERE is it played? • Logen ll (Denmark) in Yahoo Pool

WHEN? • Midweek at 6pm EST (11pm GMT), 7pm EST (modnight GMT) or 8pm EST (1am GMT)

WHO runs it? • Steven (steven.rules)

WHO is SS captain? • Shelle (shelle4461)

WHAT else? Formed by Scotsman Dave Dixon (buckme.beautiful), WPC was the first interleague to try out the 6 v 6 format, permitting ties for the first time. Dave ran it for a season or two before disappearing. Jason (goodoldmrcheeseman) from England took over and was HA until Season 7. The competition was run by various admin in Season 8, after which Steven (steven.rules) became the new HA for Season 9. SS has won the main play-off championship once (Season 7), defeating Eight Ball Crushers in the Final. Disbanded in 2012.

WPC EXPO ***

WHAT is it? • World Pool Championship Expo - website: http://www.wpc9.co.nr/

WHICH format? • A series of single elimination tournaments, mainly 1 v 1 but sometimes 2 v 2, all Regular 8. Camming is not compulsory but any winning tape submitted will double the points gained

HOW many seasons? • 9

WHAT else? • WPC Expo allowed 10 players per team to jump weekly tourneys (the figure used to be 15 but was reduced for Season 9). The further a player goes, the more points he/she gains for the team. SS has dominated the Expo, winning the title 6 seasons in a row. Due to a lack of support WPC Expo was dropped for Season 10.

WPC 3v3 CAM CUP **

WHAT is it? • World Pool Championship 3v3 Cam Cup

WHICH format? • 3 v 3; possible results: 3-0, 2-1; 3 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8

HOW many seasons? • 3

WHAT else? • One of the smallest interleague competitions due to its three-a-side format, the Cam Cup was a secondary WPC competition which lasted for three seasons. During this time, SS won the competition once and were runners-up once too. Disbanded in 2012.

WSOP ****

WHAT is it? • World Series of Expo - website: http://wsop.zxq.net/

WHICH format?   6 v 6 with deciding 7th game when tied at 3-3; possible results: 6-0, 5-1, 4-2, 4-3; 6 or 7 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8

HOW many seasons? • 4

WHAT else? • With its neat avocado-coloured website, WSOP became a popular interleague with its MLP-esque feel (in that 7 games can be played). SS won one main championship (Season 2), coming from 3rd place to knock-out the 2 highest ranking favourites – Latino Pool Legends and Pool Fiction – before beating Deadstrokes in the Final. Sadly WSOP was dropped when the guy running it decided he didn't want to do it anymore and he refused to pass it onto anyone else.

4ORCE ***

WHAT is it? • 4orce 4 v 4 - website: http://4orce.sportsontheweb.net/

WHICH format?   4 v 4 carry; possible results: 4-0, 4-1, 4-2, 4-3; up to 7 games of 1 v 1, all Regular 8. Regular season followed by play-offs, all games cammed

HOW many seasons? • 4

WHO is SS captain? • Shelle (shelle4461)

WHAT else? • Only the second interleague to use the 4 v 4 format, 4orce differed from WPA by adopting the carry concept, plus better staff to organise it. SS entered each season held and were play-off champions in the first season. Disbanded in 2013.
